The project Challenges of the Line presents and examines all the possible manners of expression in contemporary ceramics and glass founded on the engraved, scored, drawn or spatialised line (drawing). Exhibitors are members of ULUPUH’s Section for ceramics, glass and porcelain who have been knowledgeably engaged in expressing their art through this apposite medium over the years, thereby creating contemporary and metier refined works of art. These are works that are imbued with intense and infinite curiosity, as the authors often seek out new techniques, whilst continuing to embrace other (new) media.
The artists taking part in this project see the line as a challenge, but also an intriguing and creative game, resulting in an abundance of creative imagination to a seemingly simple theme: from minimalistic engravings, scorings and drawings, to refined coloristic surfaces, sculptures, objects, ready-mades, light projections, installations and video art.
